The head of Bega Cheese is visiting dairying regions, promoting his company’s offer for processor Warrnambool Cheese and Butter.
Bega has made a final, unconditional offer in the bidding war for the south-west Victorian dairy company, which is also being courted by Australian rival Murray Goulburn and Saputo of Canada.
Bega executive chairman Barry Irvin says his company’s offer will secure a positive future for the Australian dairy industry.
“So we thought it was the right time to come and talk to shareholders, the community and indeed dairy farmer suppliers about Bega Cheese, about our offer and answer any questions they might have about why we wanted to bid for WCB and why we think it’s important to strengthen the Australian dairy industry by bringing these two iconic dairy companies together.”
