Last night Maxum Foods were honoured as an accredited Australian Trusted Trader, a mark of distinction which assesses businesses against the World Customs Organisation Standards. This prestigious status was awarded to Maxum Foods by the Hon Jason Wood MP, Assistant Minister for Customs, Community Safety and Multicultural Affairs at the Australian Trusted Trader Gala Dinner, held in Brisbane.
Administered by Home Affairs with Australian Border Force, the Australian Trusted Trader program started in 2016 and is one of the fundamental trade reforms in Australia’s history. Being an Australian Trusted Trader reduces red tape for Trusted Traders at the border, improves certainty in export markets, and expedites the flow of our cargo in and out of Australia, which means faster access to market. As an Australian Trusted Trader, Maxum Foods now have access to several benefits which we will be able to pass onto our valued customers.
Gary Houston, Warehouse and Logistics Manager, Maxum Foods said “We will receive priority processing through the National Trade Advice Centre and the National Refunds Intervention. This includes advance rulings in relation to tariffs, valuation and origin, advance ruling reviews, duty drawback claims, and refund and remission applications for customs import duty”.
“As a Trusted Trader, our business is considered low risk and given priority treatment at the border. This means faster customs processing and fewer interventions. We can’t have perishable stock such as cheese and butter waiting to be inspected, our Trusted Trader status will ensure our goods are cleared as soon as possible and delivered to customers promptly,” said Mr Houston.
Director of Maxum Foods, Dustin Boughton explains, “Becoming a trusted member of the international trade community allows us to offer our customers end-to-end supply chain security. Along with our stringent quality assurance processes, we can provide our customers not only with a safe supply chain but a secure supply chain which is internationally recognised.”
“We want our customers to have the best dairy products at the best price from around the world. Through our exceptional relationships, we have supplier agreements in Australia, NZ, EU and USA. We only deal with well-known, trusted and high-quality suppliers to guarantee our customers the continuity and security of their dairy ingredient supply. Being an Australian Trusted Trader will further improve the level of service we can provide our customers, ensuring the prompt arrival of dairy ingredients which are sourced from around the world,” said Mr Boughton.
