It’s been 10 years since Kerry Mckenzie joined the Maxum Foods team and we’re celebrating this awesome milestone. We caught up with Kerry to have a chat about her journey and to talk through some of the highlights during her time at Maxum.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
I’m a proud Kiwi. I grew up in Wellington, New Zealand and moved to Brisbane with my husband & daughter 11 years ago. We absolutely love Brisbane. The lifestyle and weather are exceptional.
Working for a dairy company was a big change for me. My background was predominantly in retail & pharmacy.
Tell us a little bit about your journey at Maxum Foods.
When I started with Maxum Foods we were a small team with an office in Petrie Terrace, Brisbane. We expanded from there to taking the whole first floor area and now we are lucky and have our own building in Milton.
There is one constant at Maxum Foods and that is change. I have seen so much of it over the past 10 years. We have grown from a small team to a large company.
What do you actually do at Maxum?
I am lucky enough in my role to work with numerous departments across Maxum Foods. I am heavily customer focused, ensuring that the sales process runs smoothly and customers are well-supported.
The thing I love most about my role is the customer contact and contributing to the overall success of the company through great service. Our mantra is to ‘make life easy for our customers’.
Why Maxum?
The culture. A lot of companies strive to achieve a really good team culture and Maxum Foods has had it from the day I joined. It’s a credit to the management team that it has been maintained as the company has grown. We really are like a family, and everyone is supported both personally and professionally.
What’s the one thing that has changed the most during your time at Maxum Foods?
I think the size of our team. We have gone from a crew of about 15 to over 50 today.
Nicknames: What do they call you in the office?
Either Kez or Kezza.
What is the best ‘work perk’ at Maxum Foods?
It has to be our social functions. We have the best parties. Melbourne Cup is always a huge celebration for us and I love that we all dress to the nines. It’s a fabulous day!
Do you have a favourite story from the last 10 years that you would like to share?
There are so many to choose from! I don’t know where to start. We had a Christmas party on a boat on the Noosa River in 2015. It was one of the best parties we have ever had and is still talked about to this day. That is all I will say about that!
What do you get up to when you’re not at work?
I love upcycling furniture in my spare time. Taking something old and giving it a new lease of life is really rewarding.
On the weekends I often take my two dogs for bush walks in my local area. I also love going to see concerts and live shows, anything to do with music.
Congratulations on 10 years Kerry! We are looking forward to many more years with you on the team.
